See the funny side of sim games in Constructor
Constructor is a simulation game in which you take control of a construction company and try to drive other companies out of business. Unlike most sim games, though, you aren't just running a business -- you'll be using all kinds of shenanigans and dirty tricks to achieve unfair advantages against your competition.
A dark look at big business
Constructor has a cynical, whimsical tone that you might recognise if you've played a lot of classic British games. Gameplay-wise, it resembles a hybrid of sim games like Sim City and base management games like Dungeon Keeper. You direct employees to build resource sites such as concrete factories and sawmills; they then use these resources to build houses, which can vary in their size and value. Once you've built houses, people move in and pay rent. Collect the rent, use the money to build more things, and you're on your way to victory. Not all tenants are good, though -- you can also build homes for undesirable tenants on your opponents' territory, making life more difficult for them. The game's difficulty level is high, but it's as fun and addictive as it is occasionally frustrating.
Win by any means
If you like simulation and management games, and don't mind some offbeat humour, Constructor is well worth checking out. It does require some practice to do well at, but that just makes victory all the sweeter.
